Allyn Kjarsgaard

Allyn Kjarsgaard joined the Eau Claire Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps in 1958 and continued on as a member as the corps became the Eau Claire Boys, eventually aging-out in 1965. In 1966, he served as Assistant Bugle Instructor and later as Bugle Instructor, “A” Corps Director and Bus Driver. His time as “A” Corps Director spanned the transition from the Eau Claire Boys to the Sundowners. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wisconsin State University-Eau Claire in 1969 with a major in music and a minor in psychology.He is now retired from Eau Claire Transit after driving buses throughout the United States and Canada on scheduled runs, charters, tours and finally transit routes. Over the years, he worked for a number of companies as well as operating his own bus tour and charter company for five years.
“For me, participating in a competitive drum & bugle corps provided lessons in self-discipline, perseverance and setting goals that lasted a lifetime. We had some great times and learned what teamwork is all about. Still, the greatest benefit will always be the lifelong friends made in the process. Now that I am retired, I hope to be able to help return the opportunity to participate in this great activity to the youth of the Chippewa Valley.”
